Help save our great grey dogs!

 John Nelsen Moosedog Rescue Fund is having a fundraising raffle at the NEAA National Specialty.  Items have been donated and are being raffled off on April 6 at 5 PM or one hour after Best in Show has been announced, which ever is later.  All tickets are $1 and will go into the drawing for which ever item you choose.  You don’t need to attend the National to win!   

Here’s the way it works, email [email protected] and tell us how many tickets you want for each item.  Send your payment ($1 per ticket) made out to JNMRF and mail your check or money order to JNMRF, P.O. Box 65, Mendenhall, PA 19357.  We must have your payment by April 1 unless you attend National.  Tickets will be on sale at the JNMRF table during the event.  You can also send payment via Paypal to the [email protected] address.  Make sure you provide your shipping address if you will not be at the National.  We need to know where to send your winning item(s)! 

Item 1.  Donated by Lois O'Neill in memory of her beloved Wilda, this convertible leather moose bag adjusts from shoulder strap into a waist strap by simply cinching a toggle - and your fannypack is ready to go!  Buttery soft leather bag has a top flap silkscreened with black moose.  Outside back flap pocket and inside zippered compartment.  Made in Maine. Black and tan, 7" sq. by 3" deep.  From NorthStyle.

 

Item 2.  Collection of Norwegian Elkhound Children’s Books

 

This delightful collection of pre-loved books contains 10 children’s books that all have elkhounds as the main character or elkhounds plays a role in the story.

This would be a delightful collection for an elkhound lover to enjoy or a wonderful gift for an elkhound loving child.  Each of these lovely books is pre-owned and the condition of each varies.

Item 3.   Navajo bear claw and silver belt buckle   Heavy, 3 inch wide silver belt buckle from the Turpin Trading Post.  Bear claw is a natural claw shed, not cut from a bear.  Sleeping Beauty mine turquoise and ox blood red coral stones.  Belt not included.  Donated by Rosemary Collier.

 

 

Item 4.  Woolen dresser or table scarf, handmade in Norway, measures 23 inches by 10 inches, not counting the fringe.  Beautifully done with a shading of grey which makes you think of elkhound hair.  Donated by Candace McMaster.

 

Item 5. This San Domingo Pueblo made necklace is strung with 26 inches of semi-precious hand rolled beads graduated in size to display a striking inlayed Spondylus shell pendant.  The natural shell is inlayed with turquoise, silver and sugilite and measures 3 inches in diameter.  This handcrafted necklace is one of a kind and was donated by Rosemary Collier.  

                                      

Item 6. 

 One of 8 prints specially commissioned by Roxane Tyssen.  The artist is Kim Thornborrow and she has drawn this compilation of puppy dreams using photos of Amy Peterson's and Chris Mayer's dogs as models.  It measures 11 x 14 inches and will be fresh off the presses at National.  We are leaving it unframed so you can choose the right accent for your decor.

 

Item 7.  Silver leaf belt, Navajo made.  This black leather belt is ¾ inch wide and 40 inches long and sports 12 removable sterling silver leaf shaped concho-type slides in addition to the leaf shaped buckle.  Embedded in the buckle are one turquoise stone and one red coral.  Donated by Rosemary Collier

Item 8.  Susan Anderson's handmade stamped cards are always a treat.  This pack of 6 says, "Elkhounds are proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy!"  Decorated with black satin ribbon, each card has a little paw print button on it also.  Beautifully made and so perfect for the elkhound lover.  Susan has said she will also be adding a few more cards of a different design to the prize by Nationals. 

 

Item 9.  A turquoise necklace made of old stones from the Sleeping Beauty mine and olive heshi beads.  The clasp area has a Navajo wrap with signature turquoise bead.  The necklace is made by the Hunter Clan.  Stunning and unique, this necklace measures 28 inches in circumference.  Donated by Rosemary Collier.

Item 10.      Moose (mooses, meece?) come in all textures.  You will enjoy hugging this furry, back packing stuffed moose from American Eagle.  In his backpack he can carry doggie treats or other training necessities.  Mac Moose sits 13 inches high and was donated by Candace McMaster. 

 

Our next moose stands 10 inches high and is made of metal painted brown.  He is done in a country style and will be happy to grace your mantel or dining table.

 

Item 11.  Two Sleeping Beauty turquoise stones and one ox blood red coral complement this heavy sterling silver cuff bracelet which measures 2 inches at the widest point.  Intricately hammered designs decorate this Navajo creation from the Turpin Trading Post.  Donated by Rosemary Collier.

Item 12. 

Judy Faro has donated one of her specially made scented soy candles which she calls Scent By Angels™ Remembrance Lights™ .  The candle comes in a memory jar which allows you to insert mementos into the lid while your candle is unlit.  The space can hold a favorite picture,  name tags, dried or silk flowers, etc.  This candle is composed of 7.5 oz. of vanilla scent and orange/yellow in color .  The clear glass container is embellished with sprigs and berries with a special poem on the hangtag to honor the pet.

Item 13. 

 

Gilbert Ortega designed these sterling silver cross dangle earrings donated by Rosemary Collier.  These hammered silver earrings are designed for pierced ears and drop 2 ¼ inches, and are 1 3/8 inches wide with a turquoise stone at the center of each cross.

 

Item 14 

Wood and brass wind chimes gives a charming touch to your outdoor space on a breezy day.  These chimes have three elkhounds cut from wood surrounding the actual chimes.  The brass hammer which rings the chimes is weighted by a fun moose character also carved from wood.  The chimes measure 10 inches long from the wooden disk. 

 

Item 15 

White puka shell Navajo necklace with accent beads of jasper, turquoise, pink shells and more.  This necklace was made by the Hunter family in the Canyon de Chelly area of the Four Corners area of the southwest (New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona).  The 30 inch necklace is highlighted by a loop of beads which hangs 5-6 inches below the basic necklace.

Item 16

Consisting of two pieces:    

  This sign is perfect for your gate or fenced yard.  Made of aluminum, it measures 9 x 12 inches and is black and white.  The back is painted white.  Donated by Lois O'Neill. 

A fun way to keep track of time is with this battery driven moose wall clock which is 10 inches in diameter.

 

Item 17

Lois O'Neill has found a concrete garden statue that is as close to an elkhound as you'll find. This dog is a little larger than life size and weighs (we're guessing) between 85 and 100 lbs. It will be at the National specialty and it is the winner's responsibility to get the dog home. Sorry, we can't handle the shipping on something this size. It is a pretty unique type of elkhound - doesn't shed, doesn't bark, and doesn't eat!

Elby by Paula Kennedy

 

Meet "Elby" the Norwegian Elkhound by Paula Kennedy
Born from love, creativity and imagination, "Elby" was inspired by the noble Norwegian Elkhound, and the people and stories of the Moosedog listserv.
Each "Elby" is individually hand-crafted personally by Paula, so no two will ever be exactly alike.
These are numbered limited editions. There will only be approximately 20 Elby's made. This is Elby #5.

Item 19.

Item 20. 

This is a raised bowl feeding set- with M MOOSE. Wooden holder, two ceramic bowls with a tennis ball to show the size. Donated by Tracy Lorraine Smith.  

 

Item 21. 


It's an 8 x 10 pastel on green-grey watermarked paper, made in Paris. It's triple matted with a parchment, gold and cream mat. The frame is real wood, not expensive, but it looks pretty nice. I have a picture of it, but the paper shows up as grey, and the 'halo' around it was caused by the flash. Donated by Susan Hamilton. 

 

Item 22. 


A handmade fleece blanket with a moose on it, and a turquoise fleece back on it. It measures 6' by 5'. The blanket is washable. Donated by Jo Bell. 

 

Item 23. 

Sue Hamilton has donated three sets of elkhound notecards to be drawn as three separate prizes. However, with each set of cards, the bidder must be willing to 'rescue' a tiny moose that needs to be rehomed. These moose are quiet, and don't make any mess...they just need a bit of dusting from time to time. They are each BOYD collectables. The cards come in sets of 5, with envelopes, and are made by Richard Hamilton, from artwork of Sue Hamilton, and her daughter, Jill Wright. Set #1 are of an old pen and ink, done by Sue in the 70's, Set # 2 is a head study done by Jill Wright, which has been featured on Italian Charms, and Set # 3 is assorted Sue Doodles, including "Flower Child", "Puppy Butt" and a moose watercolor." If your ticket is drawn, you will get to choose which of the three sets of cards you want and which moose you will rescue.






Item 24. Ceramic butter tub designed by Elaine Oakes. This piece of Elaine's pottery is a sought after collectable as well as a practical item. The photo is a bit blurry but it shows the beauty and detail of her pieces.
